Discipleship & Mentorship

A guide for your faith journey - someone to walk with you, ask hard questions, and help you grow. 50-minute video sessions.

You know you want to grow in your faith. Maybe you have been a believer for decades and feel like you have plateaued. Maybe you are newer to following Jesus and everything still feels unfamiliar. Or maybe you are somewhere in the middle - you love God, you go to church, but something is missing and you cannot quite name it.

What’s often missing is not more information. It is a person. Someone who knows your story, asks the right questions, and walks beside you as you figure out what faithfulness looks like in your actual life.

That is what discipleship is. And on BetterFaith, it is available to you no matter where you live or what your schedule looks like.

What discipleship looks like on BetterFaith

Discipleship on BetterFaith is not a curriculum you follow or a class you attend. It is a one-on-one relationship with a vetted guide - a pastor or biblical counselor trained for this kind of relational ministry.

Your guide meets with you regularly through video. Together, you open scripture, talk through what is happening in your life, and work through the questions that matter most to you right now.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” - Matthew 28:19-20

This was the final instruction Jesus gave. Not to build institutions or create content - but to walk alongside people and help them follow him more closely. That is the heart of what your BetterFaith guide does.

Who it’s for

There is a common misconception that discipleship is only for new believers. It is not.

If you have been in the faith for twenty years and feel spiritually dry, discipleship is for you. If you are leading others but have no one pouring into you, discipleship is for you. If you are navigating a transition and your faith feels untethered, discipleship is for you.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” - Proverbs 27:17

Spiritual maturity does not mean spiritual independence. The most mature believers in scripture were always in relationship - learning, being challenged, being encouraged. You do not outgrow the need for a guide.

Seasons when it matters most

  • You are stepping into leadership at church or in ministry and want someone walking alongside you.
  • You are processing a major life change and want to navigate it with faith at the center.
  • You have hit a wall in your spiritual life and the practices that used to sustain you feel hollow.
  • You are wrestling with hard theological questions and want a safe space to think them through.
  • You want to build better habits around prayer, scripture, and community.

What a session looks like

Every discipleship relationship is different, because every person is different. But here is what sessions often include:

Scripture study. Not just reading a passage, but connecting it to the real decisions and struggles you are facing this week. Your guide helps you see how the Bible speaks into your specific season.

Honest conversation. You bring the real stuff. The doubts you have not said out loud. The tension between what you believe and how you are living. Your guide creates space where those things are welcome, not judged.

Accountability with grace. A good guide will be honest with you when it matters - not harsh, but not afraid to say the thing no one else will say. They hold you to the standard you said you wanted to live by, and they do it with compassion.

Prayer. Not a ritual at the end of the call, but genuine intercession. Your guide prays for you between sessions and invites you into a rhythm of prayer that shapes your week.

How matching works

Finding the right guide matters. BetterFaith matches you based on your goals, your background, and the kind of guide you are looking for. You share what you are hoping to work on, and we pair you with someone equipped for that conversation.

Every guide has been vetted - not just for credentials, but for character. These are pastors and biblical counselors who have demonstrated the relational wisdom and care that discipleship requires. And if your first match is not the right fit, you can switch without an awkward conversation.

If you have been wanting someone to walk with you in your faith but did not know where to find that person, BetterFaith was built for exactly this moment. Get matched with a counselor and start your discipleship journey today.
