We will find a way to make this work
This is not free, and for some people it is a real stretch. We know that. So we built more than one way in: packs that bring the cost down, churches that cover their people, and programs for anyone who cannot pay. If money is the thing standing between you and a guide, say so and we will sort it out.
One session
$100
50 minutes, virtual, with a guide matched to you.
Charged after the session, never at booking.
What you get
The session, and everything around it
A 50-minute session, one to one
A vetted pastor or biblical counselor who reads your notes beforehand, remembers last time, and prays for you by name. Virtual, on your schedule, evenings and weekends included.
A guide who trained for this
Every guide holds graduate-level training or deep pastoral experience, clears our five-round vetting process, and completes our training program before taking a session.
Learning modules and programs
Structured material you work through between sessions, so the hour with your guide is not the only place growth happens.
Daily devotionals and journaling
A daily devotional and a private journal built into your account. Yours to keep, and yours to share with your guide only if you want to.
The full resource library
Every long-form guide we have written on grief, marriage, church hurt, doubt, discipleship, and more. No paywall.
A free rematch, any time
If the fit is wrong, say so and we will match you with someone else at no cost. You do not owe us an explanation.
If $100 is a stretch
Three ways this gets cheaper, and one email that solves it
We would rather have you in a session at a price you can carry than watch you close the tab.
Buy in a pack
Sessions bought ahead of time save you up to 15 percent. No expiry pressure, no subscription.
Ask your church
Partner churches get a discount for every member, and many subsidize or fully cover sessions. If yours is not a partner, tell us and we will reach out to them.
Tell us you need help
We have programs for people who cannot pay full price. Email support@betterfaith.com and we will work it out with you.
Radical accessibility is one of our six values, not a line on an about page. Email support@betterfaith.com and tell us what you can do. Nobody will ask you to prove anything.
Where this sits
What this kind of care costs elsewhere
The range below comes from our own guide to finding a Christian counselor, written before we had a price to defend.
Licensed Christian therapist
$120 - $250
Per session out of pocket. Often covered by insurance, with a diagnosis on your record.
BetterFaith
$100
Per 50-minute virtual session, less in a pack. No diagnosis, no insurer, no waitlist.
We are not the cheapest way to talk to someone about your faith, and we are not trying to be. What you are paying for is a guide matched to your season and your theology, trained and background-checked, who you can start with this week.
Questions about money
When am I charged?
After your session, not when you book it. You are never charged for time you have not had. If you need to cancel, do it more than 24 hours ahead and there is nothing to refund because there is nothing to pay yet.
What if I cannot afford it?
Email support@betterfaith.com and tell us. We mean that. Radical accessibility is one of our six values, and we have programs for people who cannot pay full price. Nobody at BetterFaith is going to make you explain yourself or prove anything. We will find a way to make it work.
Why can I not use insurance?
Insurance pays for clinical treatment of a diagnosed condition, and that is not what this is. To bill an insurer, a provider has to give you a mental-health diagnosis, document you against it, and let the insurer decide how many sessions you are allowed. Biblical counseling and discipleship are pastoral care, so there is nothing for an insurer to reimburse. You pay out of pocket, and in exchange there is no diagnosis on your record and no insurer capping your sessions. If what you are carrying calls for licensed therapy, we will tell you and help you find it.
Can my church cover this?
Often, yes. Partner churches get a standing discount for every member, and many go further and subsidize or fully cover sessions for their people. Ask your pastor. If your church is not a partner yet, tell us who they are and we will reach out to see whether they will cover it for you.
Do I have to commit to a number of sessions?
No. There is no subscription and no minimum. Some people come weekly for a season, some once a month, some for one hard conversation and then stop. If you do want to buy sessions ahead of time, packs save you up to 15 percent.
What if the first session does not go well?
Tell us within 48 hours and we will refund it in full. If you would rather keep going with a different guide, we will rematch you for free instead. A first match that misses is a normal part of this, not a failure.
