Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (the "AUP") describes the conduct that is and is not allowed on the BetterFaith platform. It applies to everyone who uses BetterFaith - seekers, guides, church partners, and visitors. Violation may result in suspension or termination of access, removal of content, reporting to law enforcement where appropriate, and other actions described in our Terms of Service.
You may not
Misuse the platform
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to circumvent payment, vetting, or other safeguards
- Use the platform to send spam, malware, or harmful code
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the platform without our prior written consent
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the platform
- Scrape, crawl, or otherwise harvest information from the platform
- Use automated systems (bots, scripts) to interact with the platform other than as we publicly support
Misrepresent yourself or others
- Misstate your identity, age (you must be 18 or older), location (U.S. residents only), or qualifications
- Impersonate another person, BetterFaith, a guide, or any organization
- Create or use multiple accounts to evade restrictions
- Falsify the nature of your needs to obtain a service you are not eligible for
Harm or harass
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse a guide, BetterFaith staff, another seeker, or anyone connected with the platform
- Send sexual or sexually suggestive content to a guide or to BetterFaith staff
- Engage in hate speech or discriminatory conduct based on protected characteristics
- Stalk, dox, or compile personally identifying information about another person without consent
Compromise privacy and confidentiality
- Record any session without the express prior written consent of all participants
- Share or distribute the substance of any session without the consent of the other participants
- Share login credentials or transfer your account
- Violate the privacy of another person on or off the platform
Off-platform circumvention
- Solicit a guide to provide services to you off-platform to avoid fees
- Solicit a seeker to engage with you off-platform to avoid fees (guides)
- Use platform-introduced relationships for purposes outside the pastoral or spiritual care contemplated by the platform
Misuse of content
- Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of BetterFaith content without permission, except as the Terms allow
- Use BetterFaith's name, logo, or marks for any purpose other than accurate description, without permission
- Submit content (messages, questionnaire responses, profile content) you do not have the right to submit
Abuse of crisis features
- Falsely report a crisis to obtain attention or to harass another person
- Use the platform to threaten harm to yourself or others as a means of pressure
We may
- Monitor platform activity for safety, security, abuse, and compliance, consistent with our Privacy Policy
- Suspend access immediately, with or without notice, in response to a credible safety concern or alleged violation
- Investigate reported violations and take action as appropriate
- Cooperate with law enforcement and respond to valid legal process
- Update this AUP from time to time

We aim to respond to safety reports as quickly as we can, generally within 24 hours.
Crisis
If you or someone else is in a mental health crisis, please call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), or call 911 for emergencies. BetterFaith is not a crisis service.
